Cougar Health Services (CHS) Healthcare Providers provide primary care for WSU students. Providing care in the college health setting requires competence in general medicine, gender-affirming care, sports medicine, trauma, infectious diseases including sexually transmitted infections, minor surgical skills, dermatology, mental health, sexual health, and psychosocial medicine using current standards of care. Healthcare Providers practice within the scope of their board-certification to prescribe, place, and provide contraceptive products and be a resource for students seeking family planning options in a primary care clinic. Care includes educating patients which may include counseling about family planning, sexual health, and reproductive medicine. Professionalism, teamwork, preventive care, patient education, and cost-effective practice styles are valued. Healthcare Providers also support CHS and the university through non-clinical work when requested.
