Job Description:
Responsible for maintaining proper levels of cleanliness within the Lee and Morris Houses and assigned areas. Ensures the houses are welcoming and presentable to guests as well as clean, orderly, and properly maintained for home incumbents.

Essential Functions:
- Cleans, dusts/polishes, vacuums and mops all surfaces including floors, carpets, internal windows/sills/drapes, furniture, staircases and railings, light fixtures, counters, vents and appliances. Use cleaning practices applicable to a historic home to retain finishes and luster and minimize wear effects. Use appropriate measures to dust and clean artwork as defined by preservation director. Cleaning methods shall minimize fragrances and odors reserving restorative cleaning process to times where house is vacant.
- Sanitizes counter tops and restore granite finishes. Clean and polish tile surfaces, maintaining grout lines to their original color and appearance.
- Remove trash and recycle disposing of it in proper containers on site
- Clean and sanitize all doors and touch surfaces. Maintain glass to optimum clarity and cleanliness.
- Cleans bathrooms including all surfaces, mirrors, shower doors, floors, toilets, sinks, faucets and shower heads. Stocks necessary toiletries. Empties and disinfects trash cans.
- Maintains cleanliness of outside porches and decks, including porch furniture, railings, light fixtures and mats. Removes cobwebs and clears leaves and debris from patio, driveway, garage and breezeway as needed. Ensures that live house plants are watered as needed.
- Inspect grounds and remove any limbs or trash and reporting any lawn or plant issues to the Special Events Coordinator.
- Report any Lee House maintenance issues to the Special Events Coordinator assigning priorities as needed.
- Maintains Lee House tableware, washing and unloading dishes from the dishwasher assuring cleanliness, dryness and free of spots prior to putting them away. Polishes silver as necessary.
- Maintains Lee House table linens, performs ironing and spot removal, folding and putting away. Assists with dry clean delivery and pickup for home incumbents.
- Primarily in the Morris House, following the departure of house guests, cleans and resets rooms including laundry of bedding and towels. This occurs typically between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Performs special event set-up during the week and for week-end events when necessary. Resets the homes post event.
- Provides list of needed supplies to house coordinators for procurement.
- Regularly check storage rooms for order and cleanliness. Assure needed catering and event materials are cleaned, maintained and ready for use prior to each event.
- Tracks progress of daily and weekly assignments to assure all obligations are met and on time.
- Supports campus-wide activities in the areas of setup, snow and ice removal and any other duties as assigned.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required. Three (3) years experience in a housekeeping role is preferred. Competency in cleaning methods as well as restorative cleaning methods a must. The ability to follow verbal and written directions and provide responses in writing and via computer applications including email is essential. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Must be able to work independently, efficiently, accurately and with attention to detail. Must be organized with the ability to stay on track with assigned duties as unplanned needs arise.

Physical Requirements:
- Fingering: Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working, primarily with fingers rather than with whole hand or arm as in handling.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

- Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
- Crawling: Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.
- Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
Types of Work: Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
