Reports to: Director and/or Crew Leader

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position is for day shift. 8 hours – OT occasionally.

Salary $20 per hr. 

GENERAL SUMMARY:  Performs general maintenance and minor repairs within all municipal buildings.  Schedules cleaning activities of municipal buildings. Expected to learn procedures, rules, operations, and duties of this department. 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Performs preventive maintenance services of heating/cooling equipment, such as filter and belt replacement, blower and motor lubrication and coil cleaning.
  • Repair minor plumbing and electrical problems.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties such as changing lights, trash removal, dusting, vacuuming, moping, and waxing floors and window washing.
  • Prepares and arranges meeting rooms for various civic activities.
  • Maintains parking lots and grounds.
  • Report immediately to PW Director the need for any major repairs.
  • Will escort and monitor any outside repair technicians when onsite
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver license and good driving record 
  • 2 or more years previous experience.
  •  Requires some experience with and/or knowledge of custodial equipment, methods and repairs.
  • Requires the ability to take initiative in scheduling and performing duties, as well as able to work unsupervised. 
  • Required to work outdoors in all temperatures and weather conditions

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Successful completion of a six (6) month probationary period.  
  • Ability to work a 40 hour work week and accept on call overtime. 
  • Successful completion of criminal background check, reference checks, and must pass security clearance.  

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:  

  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, climb, crouch and crawl
  • Ability to lift 10lbs occasionally
  • Limited exposure to physical risk.
