Urgent Care NW is an independent, solo provider-owned practice. We are seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team, providing care in our Rural Health Clinic (urgent care) located along the Northern Oregon Coast in Astoria, Oregon.

Astoria, Oregon is located at the mouth of the Columbia River and has a rich history of being a prominent site of trade, commerce, and blending of Northwest cultures for centuries. Astoria is located near the Pacific Ocean, overlooks the Columbia River, and is the center of fantastic fisheries, restaurants, hiking, paragliding, and other unique indoor and outdoor activities. Astoria is less than a 2-hour drive to the Portland/Vancouver area.

The ideal candidate for this position is a PA who thrives in a flexible work environment, works well independently, has a broad fund of knowledge, can effectively prioritize their time, and has an outstanding bedside manner.

We recognize that Astoria may not be a home base for many providers, so housing in Astoria, when you are working, is included in our employment package in a home overlooking the Columbia River. You may reserve the house when you are not working for your own personal recreation.

Responsibilities in this position include:

  • Conduct patient-centric examinations and craft evidence-based workups and treatment plans
  • Interpret x-rays, lab results, and EKGs
  • Triage and manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times
  • Perform digital blocks and regional anesthesia, bedside procedures including but not limited to laceration repairs, suture/staple removal, incision & drainage, foreign body removal, large joint aspirations, nail removal, joint reductions, splinting, venipuncture, intravenous fluid administration
  • Review and manage daily tasks, including patient callbacks regarding lab and imaging results
  • Provide oversight and lead day-to-day operations for your team of medical assistants and support staff
  • Shifts vary from 10 to 12 Hours. It is common for providers to work 3 days in a row and then have 4 days off during the week.
  • Our clinic is open 7 days a week, 7am-7pm M-F and 9am -7pm Sat-Sun.
  • Our clinic typically sees from 16 to 35 urgent care patients per day.
  • Patient Chief Complaints vary from injury, illness, physicals, MVA, and Workers' Compensation. Injuries and sports and DOT physicals.
  • We see patients from 6 months old to 90+ years old in our typical workday.
  • Support staff is provided for physician assistants and physician coverage is provided by our owner/physician.

Must have current DEA, NRCME (for DOT/CDL examinations), NCCPA certification, and an Oregon State license.
