Upper Mississippi Fleeting Deckhands work in our fleet, and go home every night. We have 12 hour shifts with 14 days on and 7 das off. There is excellent opportunity for advancement, and extensive training is provided.
All applicants must have favorable work reference, a valid driver's license, and must pass a pre-employment physical examination and drug screen.
Primary Job Duties:
- Deckhands must be capable of lifting or moving objects that are heavy and awkward.
- The standard work schedule for all deckhands is 12-hour shifts, 14 days on and 7 days off.
- Deckhands perform a variety of tasks which include, but are not limited to: standard housekeeping duties, painting, chipping, transferring rigging, vessel and barge maintenance, midstream fuel transfers, assisting in making bridges and locks, etc. These duties are performed in all types of weather, day and night.
- Spot and pull barges from the docks as needed.
Physical Requirements:
Physical requirements of the job include climbing ladders and stairs, repetitive bending and stopping, lifting heavy marine equipment, and lifting objects from various levels ranging from 10-100 pounds.
