Description

The Department of Neurology of the Dell Medical School (DMS) at The University of Texas at Austin and their clinical partner Ascension Healthcare are recruiting a clinician-educator or physician-scientist with expertise in the sub-specialty of Vascular Neurology. We seek individuals with excellent clinical skills, a passion for education, and the potential for scholarly contributions. The University of Texas at Austin is one of the nation's leading research universities, and DMS pursues innovation in healthcare delivery, excellence in healthcare, and quality professional education. DMS is one of six medical schools in the University of Texas System and is the first new medical school to be established in nearly five decades by a member of the Association of American Universities, an organization of leading public and private research universities.

DMS neurology faculty, residents and fellows provide services for two teaching hospitals: Dell Seton Medical Center at The University of Texas (DSMC), with 211 beds (expanding this year to 361 beds), a 15-bed Neuro ICU, an 8-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit, and the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center for adults; and Ascension Seton Medical Center Austin (ASMC), with 524 beds and comprehensive programs specializing in women health, perinatology, cardiovascular, and spine services. Both hospitals are Comprehensive Stroke Centers and support vascular neurology and neuro-endovascular fellowships, and neurosurgery services and residency training. DMS faculty also provide neurological services at two Ascension Healthcare community-based Stroke Centers and surrounding counties, one a Primary and the other a Thrombectomy Stroke Center. For outpatient care, DMS faculty practice in several academic clinics conveniently located adjacent to DSMC, ASMC, and community-based outpatient clinics.

Austin is a vibrant, dynamic university city, known for its excellent public K-12 schools, lively music scene, contemporary social scene, superb cuisine, and international festivals such as South by Southwest. The city typically ranks among the country's best places to live. Nearby lakes and rivers as well as the beautiful adjacent Texas Hill Country provide ample opportunities for outdoor activities.

Qualifications

Applicants should be board certified in Vascular Neurology by the ABPN or, in the case of current trainees, should be board eligible, and qualify for a faculty appointment with The University of Texas at Austin. Hiring is contingent upon obtaining a Texas medical license, practice credentials and hospital privileges.

Application Instructions

Interested candidates should submit a letter of interest and a curriculum vitae via Interfolio. The review of applications will continue until the position is filled. The Department will contact selected applicants for the next stage of the process.
