Manager-Research Evaluation



The Research Manager (RM) will serve as a vital member of a multidisciplinary team that includes analysts, qualitative scientists, policy experts, project managers, and trainees. The RM will oversee the scientific aspects of the PI’s ongoing research studies under her direction, conducting research at the level of an independent investigator and/or playing a leadership role in research projects (e.g., by acting as senior analyst in one or more research projects; presenting results and preparing grant sections and publications; collaborating with external researchers and supervising research staff and trainees). The RM will conduct high-level analysis, conceptual design, and implementation of studies. The RM will likely collaborate closely with other investigators in the Center for Innovative Research on Gender Health Equity (CONVERGE) in conducting sex- and reproductive-health focused research across the lifespan. This RM position requires strong communication skills, integrity, independence and self-direction, organizational capacity, keen attention to detail, the ability to work well as a team member, a strong work ethic, professionalism, and a growth mindset. Human subjects research experience is required. This role may involve some administrative duties as needed by the research team, including meeting logistics, note-taking, event planning, and maintaining records of communications.

The RM will work in clinical research involving human subjects and therefore clinical Research Study Coordinator training is required, including research-specific training in Protection of Human Research Subjects, Good Clinical Practices and HIPAA compliance. Additional trainings will be selected by Dr. Talabi and the Research Manager. While an in-Pittsburgh candidate is preferred, strong virtual candidates will be considered; please note that this position may involve travel to Pittsburgh for in-person meetings several times per year. - Strongly prefers Master’s-equivalent experience in public health, health services, epidemiology, biostatistics, or related area and 5+ years of applied work experience.

-Ability to engage respectfully with diverse research participants

-Intermediate or higher-level skills of MS Office suite

Job Summary

Supports the design and implementation of various research, intervention, and educational development and evaluation projects. Facilitates project communications and implementation activities and monitors projects for quality and accuracy. Coordinates and manages data collections and assessments and leads grant proposal initiatives. Develops research strategies, proposals, and reports.


Essential Functions

Must be able to use a PC or laptop. Must have stable Wi-Fi access to be able to communicate. Must be able to attend some meetings and complete some functions in person.


Physical Effort

Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time.
