Physical Requirements
The physical requirements for this position include regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time with repetitive motion (such as typing); walking including pushing, pulling, and/or lifting up to 10lbs and occasional pushing, pulling, and/or lifting objects up to 50lbs. The conditions of work may involve regular exposure to loud noises, intermittent exposure to blood borne/airborne pathogens and combative/violent people, and occasional exposure to cuts and punctures.
Shift
Monday- Friday with varying shifts depending on the department need.
Job Summary
The department of Interventional Radiology is seeking a Patient Relations Assistant that will be responsible for collection and input of registration information, insurance and demographic data, perform cash collection (co-pays, deductible, deposit, reconciliation), and provide customer service to patients.
The Patient Relations Assistant is foundational to facilitating an engaging and positive patient experience.
The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to; greeting patients, registration, insurance verification, cash handling, medical record preparation, scheduling appointments, procuring new patient records, communicating information with patients via the telephone and in person, and answering telephone. This position supports efficient patient care and clinic initiatives for improving patient attendance and keeping attendance records.
The University of Kentucky considers the health, safety and well-being of our entire community to be a top priority. The ideal candidate will be skilled in communication, specifically in the ability to remain calm and helpful during emotionally stressful moments or crises. As someone responsible for employee records, attention to detail is critical to ensuring patient record accuracy. The ability to work in a collaborative environment with a teamwork mindset. The ability to follow processes and process data entry records. Respect for confidentiality; be able to prioritize tasks efficiently; and work in multiple systems simultaneously.

Preferred Education/Experience
Proven track record of providing exceptional customer service and four or more years of experience in medical office work preferred. Prior patient registration and insurance verification experience highly preferred.
