Deputy Executive Director
Overview: The Museum of Polo and Hall of Fame is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as Deputy Executive Director, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. This position offers a unique opportunity to play a key leadership role in advancing the museum's mission and strategic objectives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in executive management, demonstrated leadership skills, and a passion for promoting the sport of polo.
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the COO and other senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and initiatives to drive the museum's growth and success.
- Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the museum, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and adherence to established standards and procedures. Provide leadership and direction to staff members across various departments.
- Financial Management: Work closely with the COO to develop and manage the museum's annual budget, monitor financial performance, and identify opportunities for revenue growth and cost optimization.
- Program Development: Lead the development and implementation of innovative programs and initiatives to enhance the visitor experience, engage the community, and promote the heritage of polo.
- Partnership Development: Cultivate strategic partnerships and collaborations with external organizations, sponsors, and stakeholders to support the museum's mission and objectives.
- Board Relations: Serve as a key liaison between the museum's leadership team and the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, reports, and recommendations to support informed decision-making.
- Staff Development: Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes professional growth, teamwork, and collaboration. Provide mentorship and support to staff members to help them achieve their full potential.
- Public Relations and Marketing: Represent the museum in various public forums and media outlets, articulating its mission, vision, and impact. Develop and implement marketing and communication strategies to enhance the museum's visibility and reach
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Museum Studies, Sports Management, Sports Journalism or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in executive management, preferably in the nonprofit sector or cultural institutions.
- Strong understanding of nonprofit governance, financial management, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team towards achieving organizational goals.
- Demonstrated track record of successful partnership development and stakeholder engagement.
- Passion for sports, with an interest in the sport of polo and a commitment to preserving its heritage and legacy.
- Flexibility to travel occasionally for meetings, conferences, and events.
