Job Description for Chief Information Officer
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the planning, direction, and oversight of all IT, telecommunications, audio/video, and networking systems for NY CREATES. The CIO has primary responsibility for leading a customer-service focused organization responsible for the development and delivery of innovative, efficient and effective technology services and systems. The CIO will support the strategic direction of NY CREATES and provide vision and leadership to ensure technology supports the corporate direction and needs of users.
Responsibilities for Chief Information Officer
- Leads a team of IT staff to ensure employees receive quality, consistently available computer services. Manages the design and maintenance of a secure network infrastructure for local and wide area connectivity and remote access. Leads the development and implementation of the IT and electronic communication strategy for the organization.
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the information technology department including directing staff, who support administrative computing, networking, user services, telecommunications and other information technology functions. Sets direction for personnel, develops and leverages technology solutions in a collaborative and proactive manner and provides quality service to end-users. Oversees and monitors IT consultants and contractors.
- Responsible for overseeing the procurement, installation and maintenance of all computer hardware and software and all other products and supplies necessary to keep computer systems state of the art and operable. Evaluates new equipment, software and processes continuously, recommends changes as appropriate.
- Designs and implements operating strategies, policies and procedures to assure smooth functioning of NY CREATES's IT Department. Provide leadership, oversight and direction to direct reports to assure goals, programs, activities, and personnel practices are consistent with and contribute to the Institution's goals and strategies.
- Responsible for the security, safety, storage, and reporting of all data in the R&D cleanroom and lab environments. Make sure the systems are protected and access is limited to those authorized individuals. This includes, but not limited to, Intellectual Property, recipes, process data, and reports.
- Consults with senior management, functional area managers, and site partners to exchange information, present new approaches, and to discuss equipment/system changes. Assesses and anticipates technology projects and recommends appropriate action and resources.
- Maintains a secure IT environment meeting federal standards and requirements to protect all data proprietary and provides for the complete backup of all computer systems in case of system failure or disaster.
- Collaborate with the various affiliated corporations Office of General Counsel to protect, preserve and produce documents, emails and other relevant data as required by law.
- Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements:
Minimum Requirements for Chief Information Officer
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education or internationally recognized organization.
10+ years Information and / or Network Administration Management with demonstrated successful previous supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of and experience in creating policy, best-practices and regulatory environment pertaining to information security/technology.
This position is contingent on the satisfactory completion of a background check; this position may require annual checks.

Salary Range: $190,000-$260,000
*Posted rates are determined upon experience and education.
