Job Summary/Basic Function
The College of Liberal Arts at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for the chair position (#130005) of the Department of Theatre and Dance. Applicants must have a record of teaching, research or creative activity, and service for appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor. Expedited tenure upon appointment is possible. The start date for the position is August 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will have a distinguished record of scholarship or creative activity, service to the profession, dedication to quality instruction and effective mentorship, a commitment to student success initiatives, a collaborative leadership style, and the ability to inspire faculty, staff, and students across the dance and theatre disciplines. The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills to manage operation details while focusing on long-range plans to sustain the growth and excellence associated with the department. Teaching responsibilities will be in the theatre program and determined by the candidate's academic background and skills.
Required Education
A terminal degree in theatre or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Other Desirables
Applicants with administrative, fundraising, and NAST or NASD standards/processes experience will receive special consideration.
