ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS (ELL) TEACHER
Hampton Elementary School has an opening for a part-time English Language Learners (ELL) Teacher for the 2024-2025 school year.
This position is responsible for working closely with students who are eligible for English language learning services on a regular basis in an effort to provide them with the academic and emotional support they need to fully access core instruction and benefit from the district's education programming.
Duties:
- Discusses assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts.
- Prepares lesson materials, bulletin board displays, exhibits, equipment, and demonstrations as needed.
- Presents subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions, or supervised role-playing methods.
- Establishes as fully as possible a positive relationship with students, staff, and families.
- Supervises students in classrooms, halls, cafeteria, school yard, and gymnasium, or on field trips.
- Distributes teaching materials such as textbooks, workbooks, paper, and pencils to students.
- Distributes tests and homework assignments and collect them when they are completed.
- Enforces administration policies and rules governing students.
- Grades homework and tests, and computes and records results, using answer sheets or electronic marking devices as requested.
- Completes required reports in a timely manner.
- Teaches socially acceptable behavior, employing positive reinforcement.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of fully licensed teachers.
- Evaluates academic and social growth of students, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Administers annual ELL testing and screeners. Reports results to administration.
- Assists the classroom teacher in other tasks necessary in maintaining a professional and positive classroom environment and performs other duties as may be assigned by the classroom teacher, administration, or Board of Education.
Qualifications:
- Teaching certificate for the particular position as required by the State.
- Must be familiar with the use of computers, including but not limited to email, the Internet, word processing, and electronic spreadsheets (Google Suite.)
- Establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students, parents, and staff.)
- Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate to students, parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.
This position is for 2 days/week. Depending upon student needs in the future, the position could be increased to 3 days/week.
