The center's current scope of work includes behavioral health, child health & well-being, community health systems development, health & health care financing, health in all policies, health systems transformation, long-term services & support, population & global health, and rural health. The center conducts, analyzes, and disseminates qualitative and quantitative research to connect decision-makers with the objective research and guidance needed to make informed decisions about health policy and programs. The center is at work locally, nationally, and internationally with public and private partners to improve health and well-being.
ABOUT THIS POSITION
The APD will work directly with the associate project director of a statewide health equity initiative to provide team leadership and stewardship of program resources and achievement of assigned goals and objectives. The APD will lead design, implementation, and evaluation of a community of practice for a statewide health equity effort. In this capacity, the APD will collaborate with diverse leaders to articulate the vision and strategic plan for a learning system that gathers insights from community experiences and the literature; surfaces understanding of what works, for whom, under what circumstances; and leverages the insights for program implementation and dissemination. The APD will engage a team of staff and partners to implement the learning system activities for the initiative.
HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Establishes a design and plan to implement a learning system with input from staff, project partners, and community members, including the health opportunity pilots
- Collaborates with the associate project director to hire and engage a high-performing team to conduct the learning system activities
- Mentors internal staff and provides supervision, career development, and support within or outside of the project or competency area (direct reports and/or project teams)
- Facilitates iterative learning cycles that surface, makes sense of, and shares what works, for whom, and under what circumstances related to community-led initiatives to improve health equity
- Builds new and maintains existing relationships with external clients and partners by developing strategic relationship goals and objectives
- Actively listens and communicates with community leaders and partners throughout the state of Georgia
- Facilitates in-person and virtual meetings with clear meeting goals and objectives, meeting announcements and materials, and reports on meeting results
- Writes project reports, briefing papers, policy white papers, presentations, and peer-reviewed research articles
- Disseminates learning to a wide set of partners, including health equity councils, public health districts, county boards of health, and public/private partners

QUALIFICATIONS YOU NEED
Master's degree and five years' experience or a bachelor's degree and seven years' experience. At least five years of experience in project management is required with a comprehensive understanding of the social determinants of health, racial and health equity. Experience collaborating with diverse partner groups, and strong writing and communication skills are important.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
It is expected that the candidate will have at least five years of experience in project management. The ideal candidate should have significant evaluation and/or technical assistance expertise and experience managing projects and teams where health systems change is a focus.
