About the Department:

The Controller's Office establishes and monitors the university's internal control framework, collaborates with university units to establish fiscal processes, and provides guidance to academic and administrative units related to administrative policies and procedures. It maintains close working relationships with the Office of Budget and Planning, the Office of Sponsored Programs, and Human Resources and Payroll.

The goal of the Controller's Office is to provide excellent customer service and minimize costs through demonstrating consistent progress toward increasing flexibility, reducing administrative burden, eliminating “no value added” efforts, and automating transaction processing.

About the Position:

The Fiscal Technician is responsible for student and department deposits received directly, either by mail, dropbox, lockbox, or other methods. This includes receiving and processing of funds into Banner Student and Banner Finance.

This position is on-site only. It is not Hybrid or Telework eligible.

The anticipated salary for the position is $43,800 - $52,000, dependent upon education and experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Mail and Drop Box: Opens and documents mail and drop box payments. Prepares payments for the receipt of and deposit of said payments for the following (but not limited to) the Office of Sponsored Programs, Executive and Professional Education and Parking Services. Tracks and processes payments without sufficient remittance advice. Tracks and processes outside student loans and scholarships and maintains problem payment file;
  • Departmental Deposits: Responsible for the processing of deposits into the Banner Finance system via the TFAMISC screen;
  • Student Deposits: Responsible for the processing of student payments received via dropbox, lockbox, or other methods that require manual entry onto the student account. If processing of credit card transactions is involved, following University and Payment Card Industry guidelines is required;
  • Close of Daily Work: Preparing batch headers and closing daily work ensuring the settlement worksheet agrees to Banner AR; and
  • Customer Service: As a point of first contact for Fiscal Services the Fiscal Technician is responsible for maintaining a knowledge of both student and departmental accounting.
Required Qualifications:
  • Experience in a student accounts or accounts receivable office, or an accounting background;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail; and
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in a related field; and
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Banner and TouchNet or similar systems.
