Job Summary

Supports the academic transition of transfer students by offering timely course evaluations for those courses that meet University Core Curriculum requirements. Advises transfer students on lower-division and university requirements. Maintains knowledge of transfer policies and best practices. Presents at transfer-related events.
  • Coordinates the transfer equivalency process, which includes close collaboration with faculty and advisors across the university.
  • Advises transfer students concerning lower-division and university requirements (e.g., FLENT/FLEX, Summer Enrollment, Global Learning).
  • Assists with outreach efforts and initiatives (college fairs, transfer student workshops, and social networking).
  • Maintains confidential records, ensuring the ethical and legal guidelines (FERPA) are followed.
  • Reviews articulated transfer rules and requests additional documents from students and/or sending institutions.
  • Researches internal student case records/archives as needed and updates degree audit.
  • Develops and maintains knowledge of transfer policies at both the state and university level.
  • Responds to inquiries from faculty and professional advisors concerning course equivalencies.
  • Meets with transfer students and assists them in the initial phases of the course equivalency process, including providing referrals to appropriate campus resources as needed.
  • Attends meetings and serves on task forces, working groups, and committees, as assigned.
  • Presents to small and large groups at transfer student events such as orientation, open houses, and workshops.
  • Performs other related duties as required or directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and 1 year of experience in academic advising or student services experience within higher education; OR Bachelor's degree and 3 years in academic advising or student services experience within higher education.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of PeopleSoft or experience using other student information systems or databases.
