ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Executive Director of Economic Development
STARTING SALARY:
$66,000 - $72,000 Annually
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Associate Director will assist the Executive Director of Economic Development in carrying out the economic development efforts of EICCD. This individual will focus on assessing client needs and developing training plans that will enable the client to leverage local, state and federal programs for implementation of their continuous improvement initiatives. He will oversee the financial tracking and monitoring of 260-E and F contracts. In addition, this person will be engaged in technology transfer, planning and consortia development activities to meet the changing needs of area manufacturers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree required. Strong communications skills (oral and written() and human relation skills are essential. Must possess good planning and organizational skills and be a self-motivated individual. Experience in economic development preferred.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Identify, target, and conduct on-site visits with manufacturers that could benefit from the 260-E and 260-F training funds.
- Make sure 260-F performance reports are completed in a timely manner.
- Work with BIC Staff to assist 260-E and 260-F companies with the development of a training plan to address their training needs.
- Follow-up with companies and BIC staff as to the progress of their training plan to insure a positive outcome.
- Identify and work with local, state, federal and private sector resources and chamber / economic development groups to provide better access to their programs and services to meet specific industry needs.
- Facilitate the development of consortia to meet the needs of EICCD manufacturers.
- Oversees the financial tracking and monitoring of all contracts with companies under the 260-E and F programs of the Iowa Code.
- Is completely familiar with the process involved on the 250-E and F programs including coordination of documents required between EICC, Iowa Economic Development Authority, bond counsel, financial advisors and county auditors to insure successful completion of training agreements.
- Assist with economic development activities as directed
- Is committed to providing quality service that meets or exceeds the expectations of internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Manages the development and implementation of economic change through retention, expansion, attraction of commerce and light industry and the creation of incentive zone / programs.
