A.T. Still University (ATSU) is seeking a full-time exempt Assistant Director of Care & Wellness on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The ideal candidate is a student-driven professional, passionate about wellness, health promotion, and prevention with responsibilities to design and implement wellness programming across AZ, MO, and CA campuses at ATSU. This position provides leadership and promotion of the Still-Well student wellness programs and supports institution-wide health promotion and well-being efforts, shares the vision and mission of the department and university, is a student advocate and supports a multicultural and diverse campus environment, and collaborates with various department, campus, and university constituencies to strategically plan health and wellness programming efforts.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Plan and implement innovative and comprehensive, cutting-edge, evidenced-based, and holistic wellness education, prevention programs, and services for students.
  • Expand the scope of wellness program offerings delivered to students at all ATSU campuses.
  • Support institution-wide health promotion and well-being efforts.
  • Commitment to excellence in all areas of wellness and prevention programs and services.
  • Inspire positive behaviors with contemporary marketing, communications, and social norming.
  • Communicates effectively with the Director of Behavioral Health and Wellness on all department activities and issues.
  • Create and implement wellness programming across AZ and CA campuses with the Director of BH&WC.
  • Co-Chair and promote the Still-Well student wellness programs.
  • Collaborate with the other Behavioral Health & Wellness Counselors to mutually plan, assess, and implement goals, projects, resources, and support programs.
  • Complete training and maintain certification for teaching education programs such as Mental Health First Aid and Question, Persuade, Refer.
  • Co-lead the Mental Health Ambassador program for all ATSU Students, Lead AZ and CA. This program trains students to be peer-support for peers as well as joining BH&W in programming, events, and addressing important topics surrounding mental health at ATSU.
  • Provides stress management or stress-reducing activities for students.
  • Provides crisis intervention, and care management services to residential and online ATSU Students.
  • May provide counseling services to ATSU residential students.
  • Guarantee 100% confidentiality of student records/information (exception where dictated by law or during threat of safety).
  • Maintain complete and accurate confidential clinical records.
  • Participate on department/University committees as assigned.
  • Responsible for developing, updating, and presenting presentations that meet compliance with the Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Program (DAMPP) required by federal law.
  • Responsible for developing, updating, and presenting presentations that meet compliance with federal Title IX requirements for the prevention of sexual violence.
  • Utilizes data to assess the needs of programming and assesses programming effectiveness and outcomes.
  • Provide regular metric reports on student use of services and programs.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director or AVP.

Education & Experience:
  • Masters Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Promotion, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or equivalent required. May have Licensure or license eligible in the state of residence.
  • 2+ years experience in wellness education, prevention, health promotion, or a related field (preferably in higher education).
  • Skilled communicator who can deliver clear, concise presentations and reports.
  • A passion for growing, developing, and empowering students on wellness initiatives.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, supervise, and motivate others.
  • The ability to build and sustain effective collaboration with university and community partners.
  • An ability to quickly assess and problem-solve in complex situations through effective listening, consultation, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.
  • Leadership and organization skills to be able to work on various multidisciplinary teams/committees.
  • Ability to represent the university in an ambassadorial position.

The salary range for this position is 53,600 to 67,000 based on education and experience.
